HISTORY
Gin has a long and complex history, which can be traced back to the 17th century. It was first developed in the Netherlands as a medicinal tonic, made by distilling malt wine with juniper berries and other botanicals. This early form of gin was known as jenever, and it was popularised by Dutch soldiers who used it to boost their courage before battle.
In the late 17th century, gin began to spread to England, where it became a popular drink among the working classes. This period, known as the Gin Craze, lasted from the 1720s to the 1750s and led to the introduction of several laws regulating the production and sale of gin

Profile
Flavored gins offer a wide range of flavor possibilities, allowing distillers to experiment and innovate with different ingredients to create exciting and diverse expressions. Common flavors found in flavored gins include citrus (such as lemon, orange, or tangelo), berries (such as raspberry, blackberry, or strawberry), herbs (such as basil, thyme, or rosemary), spices (such as cinnamon, cardamom, or cumin), and floral notes (such as rose, lavender, or elderflower).
These additional flavors can be infused during the distillation process or added post-distillation through methods like maceration or vapor infusion. Flavored gins often retain the underlying botanical complexity of traditional gin while introducing new and interesting flavor profiles and colours that appeal to a wide range of consumers, including those who may be less accustomed to the classic juniper-forward taste.
HISTORY
While traditional gin has a centuries-old history rooted in juniper-forward botanicals and medicinal origins, the modern trend of flavored gin represents a departure from this historical norm. In the late 20th century and into the 21st century, the resurgence of interest in gin, coupled with the craft cocktail movement, led to the emergence of flavored gins. Unlike traditional gin, which primarily features juniper as the dominant flavor, modern flavored gins incorporate a diverse range of additional botanicals, fruits, herbs, spices, and floral elements. This innovation has expanded the possibilities for gin, offering consumers a broader spectrum of taste experiences beyond the classic juniper profile and reflecting contemporary preferences for diverse and innovative spirits.
